MOSWOC high energy electron forecast for geostationary orbit

Forecaster summary - Issued 2019-06-25T00:17:12

The high energy (greater than 2MeV) electron flux is currently at background levels, and expected to persist at this values until the arrival of the fast wind of coronal hole 32 or 33. Electron counts within the Van Allen belts will then gradually rise, with Moderate to High levels likely to be observed at GEO, from late day 2 (26th), especially at diurnal maximum. These High flux levels will lead to the associated 24 hour fluence also gradually climbing, with a chance of reaching the Active threshold by the end of day 3 (27th) or during day 4 (28th).  This is supported by observations from the previous rotation, where Active electron fluence was observed around 2-3 days after the high speed stream peaked.
