MOSWOC high energy electron forecast for geostationary orbit
Forecaster summary - Issued 2019-06-26T00:31:46
The high energy electron flux (greater than 2MeV) is currently at background levels. The arrival of any coronal hole high speed streams will lead to a gradual increase to electron populations within the Van Allen belts during the next 24 hours, with a chance of reaching High values (greater than 1000pfu) at diurnal peak. However the extent and longevity of this increase is low confidence, due to the expected high speed streams being weak and transitory, especially when compared to the previous rotation.
The associated 24 hour electron fluence will therefore respond to the increased electron counts, with a chance reaching Active (greater than 1e8 integrated pfu) by day 3 (28th), before electron populations naturally decline through day 4.
