MOSWOC high energy electron forecast for geostationary orbit
Forecaster summary - Issued 2019-04-09T00:04:15
The high energy electron flux (greater than 2MeV), has become suppressed due to the onset of a weak coronal hole fast wind. Whilst a further reload of electrons into the Van Allen belts is anticipated with the presence of the stream, these are likely to reach the levels seen during previous days. The associated 24 hour integrated fluence has taken a big fall in recent hours, and is still currently just above the 1e8 particles cm-2 sr-1 day-1 threshold at the time of this forecast, but is expected to fall well-below the threshold by 09/0300UTC. Then, a small increasing trend during proceeding days. The exact fluence levels are uncertain in days beyond, but are likely to remain close or remain just below to the 1e8 threshold.
