MOSWOC high energy electron forecast for geostationary orbit

Forecaster summary - Issued 2018-08-06T00:06:59

The flux of high energy electrons (greater than 2MeV) is currently at background levels, with the corresponding 24-hour fluence well below the Active threshold (1e8 integrated pfu).  With some modest enhancements possible in the solar wind during the forecast period, becoming more likely later in the period, the flux of high energy electrons may show a slowly rising trend, fluctuating mainly between background and moderate levels with the diurnal cycle, but perhaps temporarily reaching high levels (greater than 1000pfu) at peaks of the diurnal cycle later in the forecast period.  The corresponding 24-hour fluence is expected to show a slow rising trend in response, but remaining well below the Active threshold.
