MOSWOC high energy electron forecast for geostationary orbit

Forecaster summary - Issued 2018-09-15T00:47:47

The high energy electron flux (greater than 2 MeV) will continue at predominantly High levels. The associated fluence levels of high energy electrons (greater than 2MeV) is expected remain above the High threshold (1e8 particles cm-2 sr-1 day-1) throughout, and initially above the Very High threshold (1e9 particles cm-2 sr-1 day-1).

The REFM model is shows a continued rising trend in the fluence over the next three days, with levels far above the High threshold and above the Very High threshold for much of the time. This is considered to be good guidance for today and tomorrow, but from day 3 (17th) the fluence levels may start to decrease slightly.
