MOSWOC high energy electron forecast for geostationary orbit

Forecaster summary - Issued 2018-04-23T00:15:53

The high energy electron flux (greater than 2MeV) is forecast to be mainly high through the forecast period, subject to diurnal variations, as the high speed stream from negative coronal hole 90 begins to wane. Corresponding electron fluence values are expected to remain above the Active threshold (1e8 integrated pfu) and are likely to exceed the Very Active (1e9 integrated pfu) threshold, but with a decreasing chance of this later in the period as the electron dissipate from the radiation belts following the movement of CH90/- across the western limb.

Based on a combination of observations and persistence, Active fluence levels are expected throughout the forecast period, with the Very Active threshold likely to be exceeded through all four days.
