MOSWOC high energy electron forecast for geostationary orbit
Forecaster summary - Issued 2018-04-01T00:20:40
High energy electron flux levels are currently varying between moderate and high values across the diurnal cycle, leading to Active associated 24 hour fluence levels. However, these have been showing a decaying trend, with peak values reducing each day. With the solar wind environment currently not expected to produce the elevated solar wind speeds that would allow for recharging of the Van Allen belts, these fluence levels are expected to continue declining, likely falling below the Active threshold through day 2. Some small probability does exist for various transients to temporarily elevate flux, and therefore fluence levels beyond this period, however generally moderate to normal background fluence levels are then expected.
