MOSWOC high energy electron forecast for geostationary orbit
Forecaster summary - Issued 2021-12-18T00:35:29
The high energy (greater than 2 MeV) electron flux, as observed by GOES-16, is currently at Background to Moderate levels. At the time of writing there has been a very muted response in electrons at GEO to the lifting of geomagnetic activity from CH32. Any resulting rise ought to now be imminent if indeed it occurs at all, with the peak risk for fluence probably coming over the coming UTC weekend, albeit a very low risk. CH32 was weaker than its predecessor from last rotation (where Active fluence was not achieved), and any reaction from coronal hole 36 is likely to be similarly restrained for being smaller and Earth's being relatively nearer the solstice.
