Environment
Background
The environment panels provide detailed information on the space radiation environment. They include data on the outer electron radiation belt, model results for comparison, data on the solar wind and ground based geomagnetic activity to help aid interpretation and forecasting. The displays provide results from 2 models:
- The Relativistic Electron Forecast Model (REFM) provides a daily average of the electron fluence greater than 2 MeV at geosynchronous orbit. It provides a forecast up to three days ahead and is updated every 3 hours.
- The BAS-Radiation Belt Model (BAS-RBM) provides the electron flux across the entire outer electron radiation belt. The model provides the differential and integral electron flux with a temporal resolution of 10 minutes at a number of different energies that can be selected. The model provides a forecast up to 1 day ahead and is updated every hour.
